Greetings from Devon

Postby DJGreen » Sun Mar 27, 2011 1:38 pm

Hello, my name is David Green, I'm 17 and from Devon. I have been playing early/medieval music for over 7 years and I am the lead violinist for my schools early music group. Every year at our local Goose Fair there is a hurdy gurdy player who, after begging him to let me have a go, got me hooked on hurdy gurdys'. I have been trying to either purchase a hurdy gurdy or make my own and was told by this man and also the leader of the early music group that this was the place to go. Thank you for reading.

No way! I'm one year younger than you. Where about in Devon are you? I'm in Buckfastleigh, on the southern edge of dartmoor. I haven't been playing quite as long as you, but I've been playing the gurdy for a year now, and medieval/renaissance music for some time longer than that.

Welcome to the board — are you thinking of coming to gurdyfest this year? It's right in the middle of revision season for me, but I am tempted to come anyway.
