Well spotted Scott, what am interesting looking instrument. It is somehow very reminiscent of a piece of furniture. It would be fascinating to know the provenance.

Much about it looks quite good but the third row of tangents is a puzzle to us since there appears to be no place for the run of a third Chanter.

Suspect it will be pretty quiet with the lid in place !

A while to go yet, wonder how much it will fetch.

Best Wishes

I thought I recognised the work - it's by Mel Watkinson

I think the 3rd row of tangents aren't tangents but key stops.

Aha, many thanks Mike. Clearly the maker is a man of many and considerable talents.

Looking at the eBay pics again I'm sure you are right about the Keystops (which don't have the pointed tips as do the Tangents), thankyou, I just jumped to the wrong conclusion ('as yer do').

Yep, they're stops. My symphonie has them too, but rather less elaborate. Little pegs of wood...

It looks like a nice instrument - the inset keyboard is an interesting idea, I wonder if it effects playability?

Thanks,
Barnaby
