Saw this gurdy last week and wrote to seller to find out who made it. Just checked my ebay messages and seller replied that he/she had made the gurdy him/herself (using Helmut Gotschy's book) but now doesn't have the time to play it.
It does look very nice on the photos - but what does it sound like and does everything function as it should?

Thee seems to be quite a few problems, but I don't know whether this is minor, or structural (not fixable or difficult to fix). I am waiting his answer.

Still looking for a guitar-backed...

Have you checked out the Reichmann guitar bodied gurdy on ebay Germany? It is more expensive than the Markus Blank one but it is still a real bargain at EUR 1,300.

If it is all gut strings (not metal strings) I may go for it.

Hi there

Question - why judge it on the strings? I would be much more wary about whether or not the wheel is circular of it it sounds awful or not...

Thanks,
Barnaby

I guess I will find out when it arrives. Hopefully it is still a good bargain. The Reichmann is a bit out of my budget, plus my experience with my old Reichmann luteback was not positive.

Lovely Lovely gurdy...I just got it. but looks like I will sell it because I want something more historic:
I want *all* of the strings in gut. The bourdons are metal winded. Let me know if anyone wants it, or willing to exchange it...otherwise I will put it back on ebay!
