Mimicking Pipes

I have a G/C gurdy and am learning to play in C, but I want also to be able to play along with a D/G melodeon pumping out unsubtle but lively English and Lowland Scots tunes largely in G and Em. I could tune three of my five drones to G, put off my C drones and play along without buzzing, in the role of a remarkable well-tuned Pastoral Piper. It's possible - but is it heresy?
