NRI's site is:
Excellent range of top quality strings: very helpful on the 'phone. You might like to try a g' and g'' combo by using a 38thou low twist gut for the g' and one of Neil Brook's synthetic "wonderstrings" for the g''. It's sold as a d'' substitute and will easily go up to g''.
You'll find it here: http://www.hurdy-gurdy.org.uk/accessories.html along with several other very useful products unavailable elsewhere.
A cheaper source of strings over your side is: http://www.aquilausa.com.
I've just ordered some of their synthetics from the Italian arm.
You might try the g' g'' combo

Actually, was thinking of trying a g and g' combo (g' being the normal for both chanters on G/C), not a g' and g'' combo.
So g', and g an octave lower (g like the mouche). This possible?
