Case Humidifier

Postby andycarter » Fri May 22, 2009 1:31 pm

I got one of these last month Humidifier because my gurdy woke up one morning with a crack in it that Neil Brook said could have been caused by storage in dry conditions. Anyone have any experience with them? Are they a waste of money?

Cheers

Eh up lad! Is it electronic and does it work? The one on the website for guitars looks suspiciously like a sponge in a plastic box with holes in it! :ugeek:

Strangely enough its exactly a sponge in a plastic box with holes in! But it doesn't drip, and you do get a free filling up syringe
I haven't had any more problems with splitting so Neil's repair, or the humidifier, or both, work!

I wonder if a potato would work? People use it in tobacco tins to stop things drying out....

Potato? Cool! And you'd be able to see easily when it needed replacing :D

As an ex-smoker - who actually did put some potato peel in his tobacco tin (having recalled his dad doing it) - there is something to warn you about; they go mouldy. As long as you are prepared to renew it regularly, it should work. On the other hand if you are using a whole spud... well you know what happens when you keep a potato in the dark for any length of time.
